Via Color is officially 10 days away! Everyone at The Center for Hearing and Speech is working diligently to get everything ready for the sixth annual street painting festival on November 19 and 20 in Sam Houston Park downtown. These past few weeks have been extremely busy, as we have mapped out the entire festival weekend for YOU, our attendees, in order to guarantee a memorable experience! From running social media sites like our Facebook accounts to calling and finalizing entertainment contracts, to even the smallest details like making sure the artist squares are in the right spot on the program map. It is all about the art, the music, the activities, the experience and the Center. A lot of work goes into putting on a festival of this magnitude.
While Via Colori 2011 will be most spectacular year yet, there is still so much to do before November 19th. You should see our stock room, jam packed with different items ready to load up for festival weekend. We have parking signs, sponsor flags that you will see in the different neighborhoods along the streets, artist bags, Street Scene supplies, cases of drinks, name tags, tents, buckets, posters, T-shirts, mugs, and the list goes on and on!
This week we will be training our lead volunteers and preparing them for the festival weekend, finalizing media coverage and selling our last few squares. And we can’t forget to mention our annual artist reception on Wednesday, where the artists get final the low down of what to expect over the weekend. We have new and returning artists joining us this year and we want to make sure everyone is fully informed and prepared. All of our Via Apprendista youth artist art submissions are in and we are stoked to see such young talent hit the streets and create work alongside some world renowned featured artists.
As you can see a lot of love and time goes into making Via Colori possible. But one thing we can’t do on our own is to spread the word. We need your help! Houston Via Colori 2011 is going to be a entertaining and phenomenal art experience well worth every moment it takes to plan it, but we need the help of our supports to make Houston aware of this unique event. So tell your friends, family and co-workers. Share this blog post with everyone you know, Rsvp to the festival on our Facebook page or just show up!
See you next week!
